D: Alright baby. Make sure you listen to your teacher and do your class work well. You hear?
B: Yes Daddy.
D: That’s my girl. Have a great day Princess 👑!
Dayo waved goodbye, turned and walked towards the car park. Few meters to his car, he heard his daughter shouting, “Daddy. Daddy”. He looked back and saw her running towards him with a teacher trying to keep pace with her. He was worried.
D: Hey Princess. What happened to you!
…as he searched her eyes for the answer to his question, she flashed him a huge smile.
B: Nothing daddy. I just want to tell you that I love you and you are the bestest daddy in the whole wild world.
D: You mean whole wide world? 😂
B: Yes!
He lifted her and turned her round until she was dizzy. Then he dropped her.
D: Princess, I love you too! You are the bestest baby girl in the whole wide world. You mean so much to me and I love you so so much.
B: Awwn 🥺🥺🥺
D: Okay Princess, be a good girl and follow aunty Simi back to the class.
B: Okay Daddy. Bye bye! I love you! 💕
D: I love you too baby ❤️

Ten minutes later, Dayo was still seated in his car. He had played the scene in his head over and over again. The birth of Itunu had changed him. It was not just about the fact that he was a father, it was the responsibility he felt for another human life. He knew he would give anything just to see her do well. He couldn’t bear to imagine what he would do if anyone tried to hurt his baby girl.
Suddenly, it hit him.
If he who was a mere human being could care so much for his daughter, and be willing to go to great lengths just to see her happy, how much more would God go for His own children?
He sank into the leather seat and exhaled. He had been so worried about the future. About his family. About his company. About his ministry. About his life. He realized how futile worry was and what little difference it made. He also realized how much his worry showed a lack of faith in his Heavenly Father.
He took another deep breath and as he wanted to start the car, he heard his wife’s laughter. He has forgotten she was there. She had been watching all along with a smile on her face 😅

““He found them wandering through the desert, a desolate, wind-swept wilderness. He protected them and cared for them, as he would protect himself. Like an eagle teaching its young to fly, catching them safely on its spreading wings, the Lord kept Israel from falling. The Lord alone led his people without the help of a foreign god.” Deuteronomy 32:10-12
