“To our God who is always on time..”

In Scriptures, we see examples of God showing up just in the nick of time. You know that moment when things seem to be over. When shame is just at the corner. When disappointment is a night away. In moments like this, and always, we are reminded of our God who never disappoints.

Jesus Christ’s first recorded miracle took place at the wedding at Cana. The wine had run out and shame was knocking at the door. Mary advised the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Not long afterwards, what was insufficient became available in surplus.

My mind goes to the prophet’s wife in 2 Kings 4. Her husband had died, and the creditor was about to take her sons as slaves. She had lost her husband, and she was about to lose her children. God stepped in. After the miracle, she had enough to pay her debts and take care of her children.

The experience of Jacob excites me. Along with his wives and children, he had escaped from Laban. However, Laban pursued them, with the intent to harm Jacob. The night before the men met, the Lord appeared to Laban. It is interesting to hear him speak. “I have the power to harm you; but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’” What could have been a bloodbath became a discussion and send-forth program. Why? Because God stepped in.

One more example. Peter.

After killing James, King Herod was emboldened, and so he arrested Peter, keeping the apostle in prison. However, the night before Herod was to bring Peter to trial, God sent an angel to rescue him. What could have been a day of sorrow became a day of celebration, because God stepped in.

And so, as we go about our activities, we are assured of the help of our God who is always on time. He will guide and lead us in the path He designed for our lives. He will intervene and keep us from evil. He will step in and save us from ridicule. We will not be put to shame. We will not be victims of the enemy’s attacks. We will not fail. Our God will step in. We are assured! We rejoice!

Our God is always on time!
