The second batch of well-wishers were at their residence consoling Bola, the children and Grandma, when Ade and Deacon Adegbite walked in. To say there was pandemonium would be to state the obvious. Shouts of “Ghost! Ghost!!” rented the air. Ade did not understand the reason for the confusion. It took about fifteen minutes for the people to relax.
With tears in his eyes, Ade knelt down and told his story. He told the story of his decision to travel to Abuja and how he was attacked by hoodlums. More importantly, he told the story of how he miraculously found himself in his hometown. “I believe that God took me back to my roots to remind me of where I am coming from and to give me a chance to change the direction of where I am headed to. Christ found me. He gave me a second chance. He saved my soul. Bola, iyawo mi, the love of my life, please forgive me. I am sorry for hurting you. I am sorry for not being an example to our kids. Please forgive me and give me a chance to make it up to you. Asake, please forgive me.”
Bola pulled him up and embraced him. “Welcome back, my love. I can’t imagine how life would have been without you. This is a second chance for us as a family and by God’s grace, we would use it well. Deacon, thank you for being there. Thank you for standing in the gap. Thank you for your prayers. We appreciate you. Today is the start of something new. The rebirth of our family! God be praised!”

Lessons learnt:
We have learnt that only Christ can sustain a home. The winds, storms and floods will come and it is only a home that is built on the word of God that can survive.
From Bola, we have seen the kind and tender heart of a wife and mother. We have also learnt not to speak when we are angry.
From Ade, we have learnt that pleasure and pressure have a way of changing us into people we never imagined. Only God can help one to remain Humble, Obedient and Teachable (H.O.T) ™Iremide Akinsola
From Dn. Adegbite, we have learnt never to stop trusting God for a miracle. “For no word from God will ever fail. Luke 1:37.” Don’t just read it and move on, take it in! Internalise it. No word from God will ever fail, no matter how long it takes. Also, we saw the love of God for the prodigal son exemplified by this man.
At this point, I am looking forward to reading your views, opinions and lessons from this series “BACK TO THE ROOTS”. Thank you for the encouragement, support, corrections and prayers. I appreciate you

Great and wonderful lessons!!!
Thank you!!
Wow… Great lessons. God bless you
Amen! I hoped you enjoyed it and learnt one or two things? 🙂
Lovely story with great lessons to learn as well. Howver, not it wasn’t only ADE that needed to go back to his roots i.e. God even the wife BOLA too. As the story shows no accounts of her ever calling on God for help with the situation with her husband or after he left home or when she had a bad dream. Everyone needs God either individually or as a family. Also without the roots, a tree can not reach its full potential. So also without God or without being in Christ, a family can’t achieve God’s purposes neither can an individual. May we not be carried away by the comforts and pleasure of a good life and forget our roots in the process.
Amen!! A very big AMEN! Thanks for the insight, ma and also the encouragement. You are really appreciated. 🙂
