Elizabeth Abijah woke up in the middle of the night and reached for the torchlight. There was a nationwide blackout due to a strike by workers in the electricity sector. She directed the torch at the baby cot beside their bed. Her baby was there and he was fast asleep. She redirected the torch at her husband, Zechariah, who was snoring. She smiled. She knew he was there, it was her son she wanted to be sure about.

It had been three months since John was born and Elizabeth had not gotten over the fact that she was now a mother! Over and over during the last few weeks, she had pinched herself. She wanted to be sure it was not a dream, a vision or a trance.

She who was called barren was now being called Mummy John! If someone had told her this a year ago, she would have told the person to stop deceiving himself.

She had been mocked for years.

People had wondered how a priest’s wife could be barren if he truly was a servant of God.

Others had encouraged her husband to get a second wife.

To top it all, in the past few years, she had lost hope of becoming a mother.

But then God stepped in! He gave her a son. He gave her a child. He took away her reproach. He gave her beauty for ashes.

If someone had told David that he would be a king while he was watching over his father’s flock in the wilderness, he would have said no way!

If someone had told Moses that he would lead the people of Israel out of Egypt while he was toiling in the wilderness with Jethro, he would have said no way!

If someone had told Matthew that he would be a major part of the Messiah’s mission on earth while he was working as a tax collector, he would have said no way!

If someone had told Paul that he would be a great apostle while he was persecuting the church, he would have said no way!

But as we know from Scriptures, those things that seemed impossible became realities.

The Bible makes it clear that God is able to do more than we can imagine. His scope of operation is beyond our imagination.

As you look around, it doesn’t seem like there is much going on in your life. In your opinion, there’s nothing much to be excited about. The passing of a year and the beginning of another only serves as a reminder of how much time you are wasting. God seems to be silent.

Today, He wants you to know that He is working behind the scenes and soon you’ll see the manifestation. He will give you a testimony that would be difficult for you to believe.

It will start like this “If someone had told me that …..”

You know those testimonies that you’ll share with tears in your eyes and joy in your heart? Those ones that you’ll be rolling on the floor in worship to God. Ehen! Those are the kind of testimonies that you will share soon.

You will see. God will see to it.

“Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45
