LORD, TEACH ME WHAT I SEE IN YOU

TEXT: LUKE 11:1

Luke 11:1-One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples’

Jesus had a lifestyle of continuous communication with God. He was always praying. He was not limited by the time of day as He prayed all night, early in the morning and during the day as He carried on His ministerial duties. He was not limited by the presence of the crowd as He often withdrew from them to solitary places to pray. He was not limited by space as He often went to the mountainside to pray alone. As He prayed all the time, His disciples took note of it and one day out of curiosity one of them whose name was not mentioned asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. I believe that beyond what that disciple mentioned about John teaching his followers how to pray, they saw and loved the results of prayer in the life of their master and they desired the same results in their own lives too.

The point here is this: the disciples asked Jesus to teach them what they saw Him doing. Better still, they desired what they saw in the life of Jesus. Beloved, what have you seen in Christ since you started your walk with Him? Have you seen anything that you desire that He will teach you? In order to become a better Christian, you must see something in Christ everyday that you desire the master to teach you.

But how can you see these things? The only sure way is through the scriptures. You may be thinking now, “What about a book, messages, mentors, etc?” we also learn from them but only those things which are in line with the scriptures. The Holy Spirit is our teacher. He is the one who convicts us and point those specific things in all their details to us and shows us the way out through the scriptures and we must trust Him to do that for us.

PRAYER POINT

  • Lord, I open up myself to you today to teach me by your Spirit new things everyday so that I can become a better son in you in Jesus name.
