The highest-grossing film ever made is Avatar. It cost over $300 million to produce and has raked in over $2.7billion so far. James Cameron began development of the movie in 1995 and it was released in December 2009. However, you can watch the movie in a little less than 3 hours.
Michael Jackson’s album ‘Thriller’ is the best-selling album with about 50 million copies sold. There are nine tracks on the album. Thirty songs were considered before they chose the final set. The story didn’t end there. After selection, Jackson and his producer spent one week remixing each song in order to produce a premium album. The entire album, however, can be listened to in less than one hour.
The Bible is the best-selling book of all time with over 5 billion copies sold and distributed over the years. The content of the Bible was inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16). It covers a period of over 1,500 years and has about 40 unique writers. The Message Bible which is a paraphrased text that I love took over nine years to fully publish.
The Bible we read, the movies we watch and the songs that we sing take unimaginable time and effort to produce but require little time and effort to consume. That is why some people spend all their lives consuming without even thinking of producing for others. Today, I want to challenge you to move up the food chain. As a Christian, think about what you can produce for others to learn from. God has deposited great talents in you and He does not intend for you to bury it. Whether in singing, writing, teaching, photography, filmmaking or blogging, the onus lies on you to be fruitful and fulfill God’s command. However, please don’t just write or sing something substandard. Put in your best in order to have a product that represents the person of Christ.
Don’t be a perpetual consumer; produce something that would make God proud. Shalom!
PS. This is not an endorsement of the movie or the album.

Very apt and relevant message. Ties nicely with the sermon that was preached in my church on Sunday about we being an inheritance and leaving an inheritance. We are God’s heirs and have recieved our inheritance from Him and we have a duty to also a an inheriatnce in this world. A legacy we will be remembered by as children of God and not just worldly possessions. God’s grace is sufficient for all all.
We are almost there…
