For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted: for the Lord dwells in Zion. Joel 3:21
Nike: You don’t know me. You don’t know what I have done. Just leave me alone. There is no need to promise me something that cannot happen. Leave me alone, old man. Leave me!
Old man: Young lady, there is nothing that I don’t know. I know the past, the present, as well as the future. Listen to me.

June 27, 2016.
April 5, 2018.
December 2, 2019.
The old man smiled as Nike spoke.
OM: Of course, I know what those dates mean. I am wondering you didn’t mention August 13, 2020. That is the main reason my promise to you seems unrealistic.
Nike had a look of disbelief. She had never spoken to anyone about the events of that day. The procedure was not properly carried out and as such, she was told there was no way she could have a child.
How did this old man know? She had left Lagos for Benue state, to avoid any form of recognition. So how did he know?
OM: Nike, stop thinking about the problem. Focus on my promise. I knew about the problem when I made my promise.
N: But sir, the blood of those children I aborted are crying for vengeance, and I believe they are justified. I informed my husband before we got married and he agreed that we will adopt two children. So, please just leave me alone. I don’t deserve mercy.
OM: Adenike, I will have mercy on who I will have mercy on. Also, although there is blood that cries out for vengeance, there is also blood crying out for redemption.
Look at my hands. Can you see where I was pierced with nails? Well, Adenike, I was wounded for your transgressions and bruised for your iniquities.
I have a word for you in Genesis chapter 18 verse 10.
….
Those were the last words Nike heard before she woke up from the dream. She unlocked her phone, opened her YouVersion Bible app, and checked the passage.
Genesis 18:10 – Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.”
Nike laughed. This old man!

Iremide: In Isaiah 49:24-25, we read about the lawful captive. The Lord declares that even the captive of the mighty will be delivered.
Also, in Colossians 2:14-15, we are made to understand that Christ has canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us. He has taken it away and nailed it to the cross!
Conclusively, Hebrews 12:24 opens our eyes to the benefit we have, through the blood of Jesus. It reads, “And we have come to Jesus who established a new covenant with his blood sprinkled upon the mercy seat; blood that continues to speak from heaven, “forgiveness,” a better message than Abel’s blood that cries from the earth, “justice.”
Like Nike, you might have done things you regret. Things you believe have disqualified you from certain promises of God. Well, there is good news for you. The blood of Jesus is speaking from heaven, on your behalf, and it is speaking forgiveness. It is giving “redemption” 🙂
In the fullness of time, you will see the manifestation of God’s promise. I believe. Do you believe?
